![]() ![]() In an astute introduction, Anna Livia rereads Lucie Delarue-Mardrus as a prolific and significant writer, despite the fact that previous scholars viewed her primarily as the wife of the scholar and translator Joseph-Charles Mardrus. This is the first translation into English of The Angel and the Perverts. The hermaphrodite became the visual representation of the ways in which lesbians were different from their heterosexual sisters, and Rene Vivien, Natalie Clifford Barney, Rachilde, and Colette, among others, shared Delarue-Mardrus's fascination with the topic. ![]() As an adult, s/he lives a double life as Marion/Mario, passing undetected as a lesbian in the literary salons of the times, and as a gay man in the cocaine dens made famous by Colette.ĭelarue-Mardrus's novel belongs to a category of literature, written between the turn of the century and approximately 1930, which depicted lesbians as members of a third sex. Set in the lesbian and gay circles of Paris in the 1920s, The Angel and the Perverts tells the story of a hermaphrodite born to upper class parents in Normandy and ignorant of his/her physical difference. ![]()

The Arroyo by M. Caspian5/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Maybe then I can finally stop thinking and dreaming. My debt will be paid and I’ll be free from that son of a bitch who grabbed ME as a kid. My books, my music, my art and my life that doesn’t revolve around grabbing kids to sell to the highest bidder. One last sweep of this dirt water town and I can get back to my life. There’s not usually a demand for someone who looks like me and has reached the ripe, old age of twenty-four. They usually take girls and if they take boys they’re younger, blonder… prettier. The slave traders have been sweeping the area for weeks now but I didn’t think they’d want me. Have known since childhood that they could take me someday. Authors of the group selected a photo and prompt that spoke to them and wrote a short story. Group members were asked to write a story prompt inspired by a photo of their choice. ![]() This story was written as a part of the M/M Romance Group's " Love’s Landscapes" event. Trace and Isaac both know happy ever after doesn’t grow in the parched desert. One last run and then… what? A life alone, with his books and music? He’s seen far too much of the dark side of human nature to think that’s a possibility. It’s Trace’s last sweep he’s about to serve out his term of slavery. He keeps his head down and looks after his family, but every two years the sick fear comes around again as the Feds arrive for a new harvest of kids. ![]()

At that exact same moment, the earth shook violently beneath my feet. Finally, I would I want to thank Para Graphic for my wonderful cover art. The robe by lloyd c douglas 19425/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Langton is an actor and audiobook narrator.įor the first time, I feel like I have an inkling of what Christ's life was like, with whom he socialized, what he ate, saw, did, and where/and whom he taught. Stuart Langton does a good job narrating the book. The book is twenty-two hours and two minutes. I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. This is a great old fashioned historical novel. The book is set in the first Century Rome and Judea. The book is long which allows Douglas to build his characters in a large landscape. ![]() The story follows Gallio and his Greek slave, Demetrius, and how the robe affected their lives. Gallio won Christ’s robe as a gambling prize after the crucifixion. ![]() The story follows a Roman Officer, Marcellus Gallio. Back in the 1950s I read Douglas’s book “The Big Fisherman” and enjoyed it also. I thought it would be interesting to reread the book as I do not recall much about the details of the book. I think I have seen the movie a time or two. The book was originally published in 1942. ![]()
