The Shattered Sylph by L.J. McDonald5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() That whole destined love or love at first sight thing bothers me a bit, so I was worried about what type of book this was going to be. ![]() Heyou is very alpha male and him and Solie have that whole drawn to love each other through fate thing going on. Solie is bound to Heyou, the battle sylph. Now Solie is on the run from the law with a new Battle Sylph by her side she has no idea what to do…as far as she knows a woman has never bonded a battle sylph before. Solie ends up escaping and accidentally binds the Battle Sylph to her. On the way Solie is kidnapped and brought to the castle to be used as a sacrifice in the summoning of a Battle Sylph. Solie wants more than an old man for a husband and runs away from her arranged marriage seeking help from her aunt. Solie is an independent woman in a nation where females are treated as the weaker sex. I was worried that based on the beginning it would be too much of a romance but was surprised at what a great world McDonald created and at how far-reaching the plot ended up being. I got an egalley of this book to review through Netgalley(dot)com. The second book is The Shattered Sylph and the third book, Queen of the Sylphs releases on September 23rd. This the first book in the Sylph series by McDonald. Stand Alone or Series: 1st book in the Sylph series ![]()

11.22 63 by stephen king5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() I personally recommend you to watch the show and guarantee that you will not be disappointed. Direction and screenplay is of high standards along with story which is very well thought of. Episode was 80mins long but I did not realize when the time flew by. ![]() But they both take you to a ride which should not end. For the premiere, you do not see much of the acting of others as it revolves only around Franco and Cooper. You just keep wondering how the story will unfold and will Jake be able to prevent the assassination. ![]() Show is fast paced and keeps you engrossed all the time. Franco plays role of Jake Epping, a High School Teacher, who unwillingly has to take up the task of traveling to the past and avoid assassination of JFK. As for the show, it does not waste any time to get into action. He has done complete justice to the character in the premiere of this show and seems to be in his comfort zone. Last time when I saw him so good was in 127 Hours. It has been a long time I have seen James Franco look so promising in a role. ![]()

Fever a novel by mary beth keane5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Keane's novel is successful because it is constructed in factual events but portrays the drama from Mary's perspective. Mary rages at the decision by authorities that has separated her from her lover and her friends in New York City, worries when Alfred's letters grow more scarce over time. Though the science is explained, medical jargon is impossible for an uneducated woman to navigate, resulting in her denial and years of rationalization rather than acceptance or acknowledgement. ![]() Even Mary cannot get her head around the suggestion that she is responsible for the deaths of twenty-three people. Mary, a scrapper who has made her way through hard work and ingenuity since coming to New York in 1886, chafes at the injustice of her predicament, inspiring sympathy from supporters who don't believe the charges against her. Labeled "an asymptomatic carrier" of typhoid fever in 1907 and denied benefit of legal counsel, Mary is spirited away for four years before she is released. She makes a good wage and lives with her lover, Alfred Briehof, until she is abruptly swept from her position by authorities and held in isolation in a cottage on North Brother Island in the East River, site of a tubercular hospital. An Irish immigrant and gifted cook, Mary has found employment with notable New York families. In a clash between science and civil rights, the protection of citizens' health trumps legalities when Mary Mallon is identified as a carrier of typhoid fever. ![]()

Jk rowling fantastic beasts series5/28/2023 ![]() ![]() Hopefully there will be more for Tina to do in the next movie, but it's not guaranteed. Tina is now the head of the American Auror office which is keeping her "very busy". Katherine Waterston's Tina Goldstein had a major role in the first two movies, but was relegated to a small cameo in The Secrets of Dumbledore. We imagine he'll die off-screen, but he might have a cameo in the next movie. However, it's revealed he's also slowly dying as a result of the Obscurus inside him and at the end of the movie, Aberforth takes him back home. It was confirmed in the third movie that he is a Dumbledore, although he's actually Aberforth's (Richard Coyle) son and not Albus's brother. The future is less certain for Ezra Miller's Credence Barebone. Jessica Williams as Professor Eulalie "Lally" Hicks.Nothing has been confirmed about the cast of the fourth movie, but all the main characters survived the events of the third movie, so you can expect the following returns if the fourth movie happens: ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Overall, I thought this was cute and fun and exactly what I needed to cure a day of boredom. And I know once they make up the reader is supposed to forget about it but I never really feel like it was explained why those things WOULDN’T be an issue in their relationship. I definitely feel like they spent that time to get to know each other and truly go from enemies, to friends to lovers but at the same time, when they’d be mean to each other, they really hit on all the points to why they really wouldn’t be compatible. Also while I thought Maddy and Theo were cute together, I can’t say with complete confidence that I feel like they’d make it long term. ![]() I get why it was used but I just wish she’d been a little more creative. The main thing I didn’t like were the little miscommunications that drove the plot forward and caused the “drama” for the couple basically. ![]() I love the world this author has built in this series and this great cast of characters/friends. I am a sucker for a good enemies to lovers romance and this book definitely delivered–and with a twist too! There were times where I’d get a little annoyed or bored but there were just as many, if not more, times where I smiled, laughed, swooned and even felt myself getting teary-eyed for these characters. And it’s the perfect book to curl up with. It’s a book on my re-read pile, simply because it’s such a feel-good story. The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory- 4 stars The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory is a contemporary romance published in 2018 that went on to become a Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick and a New York Times bestselling debut. ![]()
